Pips benefactor Essay Example

Pips sponsor Paper The convict needs to treat Pip gravely and terrify him on the grounds that the convict is on the run and in the event that he is gotten he will be condemned to death, in this way the convict must be cautious with Pip. On the off chance that Pip is terrified he will do as the convict advises him. It is significant for Dickens to begin the novel with such a climatic and strain filled beginning, so he catches the perusers eye. Pip supplies the convict with food in remuneration for companionship later on, subsequently the convict being Pips supporter. I believe that Dickens utilizes the providing figuratively; Dickens supplies us with a climatic and strain full beginning as an end-result of our consideration and comprehension of the message he was attempting to get over. Which was: on the off chance that you were rich you got rewarded well, on the off chance that you werent, at that point you didnt get rewarded well. To mark the convicts second appearance the climate comes back to chilly, dull and turbulent which re-recommends the symbolism and disgraceful deception of the principal appearance. We recall the churchyard and the ghastliness class, as we don't realize that the convict has changed. Pip is surprised to see the convict (from the outset he doesnt even remember him since it has been so long since they previously experienced each other). Pip is cheerful for the convicts new life yet asks why he has stayed with him from Australia with no notification. At that point it gets obvious; the convict is Pips supporter, a lot to Pips disillusionment. Pip was certain to the point that Miss Havisham was his advocate; All reality of my position came blazing on me; and its failure, perils, disfavors, results of numerous sorts, surged in such a large number, that I was borne somewhere near them and needed to battle for each inhale I drew. This was such a hit to Pip since he trusted that if Miss Havisham was his supporter with the goal that he could wed Estella. Pip converses with the convict in a negative manner from the start; Stay! said I, Keep off! In the event that you are appreciative to me for I did when I was a little youngster, I trust you have indicated your appreciation by repairing your lifestyle that resembles Pip saying decent of you to come however bye, go. Pips mentality of the convict rapidly transforms; they become incredible companions. We will compose a custom exposition test on Pips advocate explicitly for you for just $16.38 $13.9/page Request now We will compose a custom paper test on Pips sponsor explicitly for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Recruit Writer We will compose a custom paper test on Pips sponsor explicitly for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Recruit Writer I feel that Dickens brings the convict over into the novel now since Pip and us have been persuaded that Miss Havisham was Pips advocate in light of the fact that Estella has returned into Pips life and it fits concurrently. This additionally makes strain; How will Pips relationship with the convict change, or will it? By what means will Pips relationship with Miss Havisham change, or will it? By what means will Pips relationship with Estella change, or will it? Pip gets irritated with Miss Havisham in light of the fact that she persuaded that she was his sponsor however she doesnt care about her off-base doings since she needed to break whatever number male hearts as would be prudent, this was on the grounds that her significant other to-be stood her up upon the arrival of their wedding. After Pips stun of the convict being his promoter they become incredible companions, practically like dad and child, this kinship last until the convicts demise; he had verbally expressed his final words. The convict remains with Pip and the book until the convict passes on however the scene where the convict gets condemned is dim, dull and startling. The sun was striking in at the extraordinary windows of the court, through the sparkling drops of downpour upon the glass, and it made an expansive shaft of light between the two-and-thirty and the judgedown to the drops of April downpour on the window of the court, sparkling in the beams of April sun the entirety of this is depicting the scene in which the convicts preliminary happens. In any case, it is additionally depicting the convicts emotions utilizing pitiful misrepresentation; the downpour speaks to the convicts bitterness, as he realizes that he going to be condemned to death. The sun represents the convicts bliss; he is satisfied that he has changed his lifestyle and that he made Pips life a superior one. The portrayal of the climate is likewise a representation of what is befalling the convict; the downpour is revealing to us that the convict is being judged and the sun discloses to us that Dickens believed the convict to be a decent individual and doesnt have the right to be condemned to death. Where it says and others were biting the pieces of herb they had taken from the sweet herbs lying about, we get the possibility that the individuals condemned to death needed one final taste of sweet life before passing on as their outstanding time before being hung would be sour. While the crowd got up (putting their dresses right, as they may at chapel or somewhere else) we get the possibility that as these destitute individuals were getting condemned to death the rich individuals would look as though it were some sort of show or something. This connects to the point that Dickens was making, destitute individuals were dealt with disreputably, the way that all the two-and-thirty were totally packed into one room likewise bolsters Dickens point in such a case that you were rich and getting condemned you were condemned by yourself. Also with Dickens thought of the legitimate framework being evil the appointed authority doesnt consider that the convict has transformed, he has helped Pip fundamentally, the convict made Pip a refined man. The convict was presently carrying on with a decent life yet this new way of life was disregarded by the court because of his experience.

5 College Essay Tips for Parents

5 College Essay Tips for Parents 5 College Essay Tips for Parents 5 College Essay Tips for Parents Brace yourself for what we are about to say: parents can be helpful in the college essay writing process. Yes, it’s true. Though this may be hard to believe â€" whether you are a parent or a high schooler â€" we believe that parents may actually be a powerful secret weapon when used correctly. Of course, there is a fine line between helping and taking over, motivating and commanding, so we’ve put together a list of the top things parents should and shouldn’t do during this crazy time. So, if you’re a parent or guardian, take heart, you have an important place in this process (even as you see your kids growing up). And high schoolers, don’t worry, we respect your space. Make sure to forward this list to mom and/or dad so that they know what to do. 1. Start early. When you enter the insanity that is college admissions, everyone needs to be on the same page about timeline. There is A LOT of writing involved, so the earlier you get started, the better. The Common App prompts are already out so now is a great time to look them over and do some preliminary brainstorming. Parents, this could mean that you do a little nagging in the next few months, or it could mean that you help your kids get organized and protect their time by making sure their schedules are not overloaded. (Pro tip: there are only 24 hours in a day.) 2. Understand that this is a process. As we tell our students all the time, great writing doesn’t happen overnight. It won’t happen in one sitting and it definitely won’t happen without effort. It’s important to remember this when looking over early drafts. Don’t be too hard on your college hopefuls, and don’t let them be too hard on themselves. Frustration and procrastination are often symptoms of perfectionism, and you can play a key role in helping manage stress and expectations. 3. Make yourself a resource. Your memory is a goldmine. You remember SO MUCH that your kids may not be able to recall. Encourage them to ask you questions, to look through old photo albums with you, or to mine your memory in other ways. The kinds of details that you can recall may spark new ideas and will definitely contribute colorful details to the narrative. 4. Remember whose essay this is. As much as you may know or remember, at the end of the day, this essay is not supposed to represent your memories or feelings or worldview. While your thoughts may be helpful during the early phases of the writing process, it’s important for you to step back as the essay develops. You know, like that time you finally let go of the bicycle seat. 5. Know when it’s time to ask for outside help. Under the intense pressure of the college admissions process, tempers can flare and otherwise copacetic relationships can become strained. As much as parental involvement can help during the writing process, that doesn’t mean it definitely will help. Sometimes it can feel like extra pressure and scrutiny. Distance can be your friend, and there’s no shame in calling for a mediator during this trying time. That’s what we’re for. Our lines are always open. Making Difficult Decisions - 1108 Words

Engelsk tentamen Task 3 Making difficult decisions is a part of life We face decisions everyday, we decide what to wear in the morning, what to eat for breakfast, how to get to school, the list goes on and on. But sometimes we have to make decisions that mean a lot more, that have consequences no matter what you choose and that can effect the people around you. In this text I am going to present two films where the characters have hard decisions to make. Billy Elliot is a film about Billy, an 11-year-old boy who lives with his father, brother and Nan (grandmother). The film takes place in â€Å"Everington† in the UK, from 1984 to 1985 which was in the middle of the UK miners strike. The main conflict of the film is that Billy wants†¦show more content†¦She decides to leave with Christian. If they leave, The Duke wont find them and she will never have to lay eyes on that miserable place again. At least that was the plan until she finds out she is dying of tuberculosis. Now she has to decide if she wants to spend the little time she has left with Christian, and betray all her friends. Or she can stay with The Duke, which will help everyone at The Moulin Rouge, and it will protect Christian. I know that it seems quite clear what she should do, she should stay with The Duke, she has such little time left and should not be selfish and spend it with Christian when it will affect everyone she cares about in a negative way. S he will break Christians heart either way. He will be heartbroken if she dies, but it would still be worse if she lied to him and said that she had chosen The Duke. She decides to stay with The Duke, and when she tells Christian, you can see that it pains her to do it. He denies it and wants her to tell him why she changed her mind, he knows that what she is saying not true. So she lies and says that she would rather live a wealthy lifestyle than be with him. Watching as she does it is really heartbreaking because you know that she is lying. And the worst part is what he will think of her when she is dead, when the truth is that she was protecting everyone before she died. As a summary, I would say that not all of us have to makeShow MoreRelatedMaking difficult decisions show up in life more often than realized. President Woodrow Wilson s Declaration Of The War

On August 4, 1914, President Woodrow Wilson delivered his proclamation declaring the U.S. an uninvolved neutral country in regard to WWI. The Great War, the war to end all wars was wreaking havoc all across Europe, but the American public desired to stay neutral. Reasons for neutrality included fear of losing loved ones, socialism because the war was believed to be to be a capitalist venture to protect imperialism, the rise of pacifists who believed war was wrong for any reason, and naturalized citizens afraid they would be forced to kill those from their old county on the battlefield. But by April 2, 1917 the country had chosen to enter the war for various reasons that were moral, economic and political. Cartoon Art Museum Descriptive Essay free essay sample

When I heard the name â€Å"Cartoon Art Museum,† I naturally imagined it as a vibrant and dramatic building that had to be massive, with enough rooms to store a lot of cartoon artwork. Arriving at CAM, I was almost taken aback by how small and dull it seemed. It didn’t look like much; just a medium sized, brown brick building with black windowsills and door frames. It looked very modern and conservative; almost like any common apartment building or warehouse. At the front entrance, there were large display windows showcasing posters that advertised what new or limited edition exhibits and merchandise were available. All of the posters were attractive and vibrant in their own styles. Some were more tradition and minimalistic, sporting just logos, sketches, pictures, and classy serif texts. Others were glaringly flashy and colorful, with big comic book text bubbles and halftone comic book characters like Superman yelling at you to â€Å"check out this SUPER exhibit,† or Loki commanding you to â€Å"relinquish your money and sate your comic book cravings! † The biggest poster in the windows was advertising the â€Å"Evolution of the Avengers† exhibit. We will write a custom essay sample on Cartoon Art Museum Descriptive Essay or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page It was designed with the original concepts of the super-heroes on the left and the current, modern renditions of the super-heroes on the right, presenting a â€Å"then-and-now† effect. Another poster that really piqued my interest was a much smaller one advertising the â€Å"Darth Vader Son† pieces, by Jeffrey Brown. On the poster was a humorous but adorable picture of Daddy Darth Vader and Toddler Luke Skywalker having ice cream together. These posters were much more interesting than the building they were in. With renewed anticipation, I briskly walked towards the entrance to see what he museum had in store for me. As I pulled the door open, I was greeted by a very enthusiastic and quirky lady at the front desk. She had short blue hair and she was wearing a black shirt with the signature metallic Avengers insignia on it. I admired her earrings that were skinny chains dangling from her ears and at the end of them were the Incredible Hulk’s green fists. â€Å"O ne general admission, please† I asked while noticing that she was doodling in a sketch book before I came in. â€Å"Is that Deadpool? † I asked, â€Å"I love him! Nice drawing! † I said almost a little too loudly. Appearing flattered and a little embarrassed, â€Å"Oh, yeah! Thank you! Enjoy the museum! † she said with a smile as she handed me the ticket. As I walked towards the exhibits, I examined the ticket and was impressed to see that the design on it incorporated the signature halftone color dots that are often associated with comic books and retro art. I also took time to observe the inside of the building which was much more interesting than the outside. Cardboard cutouts of super-heroes and cartoon characters that were placed around the lobby were constantly having their photos snapped with children and fans. Posters promoting future exhibits and flyers promoting local independent artists were pasted all over the walls. The museum was extremely eclectic and would be called tacky by museum-goers looking for tradition art, but walking through this museum was like walking through the mind of any cartoon fan. After I finished examining everything in the lobby, I finally made my way to the opening exhibit, which happened to be the â€Å"Evolution of the Avengers† exhibit that was being advertised outside. Walking into the exhibit, front and center, under a spotlight was the first issue of the Avengers comics in a glass display case. Excited, I hurried over to get a closer look. Expecting the comic book to look like an ancient document, brittle and discolored, I was impressed to find it in impeccable condition. It still had most of that new comic book â€Å"gloss. † It was in a plastic cover protecting it from dust and other threats to it’s condition. The only flaws were the fading and wear on the edges of the page corners. The first edition of the â€Å"Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes† only featured four heroes; Iron Man, Ant Man, The Hulk, and Thor. The featured super-villain nemesis was of course, Loki, Thor’s brother. I giggled at Iron Man’s design because it looked nothing like his modern rendition. His design was simple; only gold, with a clunky design that made him look stiff and robotic; hardly what anyone would imagine a super-hero to look like. The Hulk’s and Thor’s designs weren’t that different from what they are today. The Hulk was always green, muscular, with short hair and only donning a pair of shorts. Thor’s armor and weapon seemed to be pretty much the same; his crimson red cape and futuristic but otherworldly armor largely unchanged. The first comic was published on September 1st, 1963. The punch line, â€Å"Super-heroes, super-villains, super thrills! Presented in the fabulous manner† was displayed in a cliche comic book speech bubble. I laughed because that tacky punchline wouldn’t do well today. On the surrounding walls there were framed pieces of concept art and comic book panels showing the evolutions and design changes of every super-hero ever part of the Avengers Initiative. Seeing all of these pieces compared to what they were made into now made me feel an overwhelming sense of nostalgia and inspiration. Some of the early designs such as Iron Man’s early concept were less than stellar but now, Iron Man is one of the most recognizable and popular super-heroes around. Seeing the progression in the quality of the character designs made me realize that a concept or piece of art can always be improved. I realized that I should always strive to keep making my work the best it can be. After I observed every detail of the Avengers exhibit, I wandered around the rest of the museum until I came to the â€Å"Darth Vader Son† exhibit that was being advertised outside. The â€Å"Darth Vader Son† pieces were a series of short comic trips. They all portrayed how Darth Vader would be as a father to a little Luke Skywalker. My favorite one featured a pouty Luke in his very messy room and Darth Vader scolding him, saying â€Å"Luke, I am your father. Do you want a time-out?! † These short but sweet comics somehow managed to make Vader seem like the loving father that none of us thought he could be. The background on these pieces stated that the creator, Jeffrey Brown, wanted to cheer-up Star Wars fans after that â€Å"depressing, bittersweet† close to the Star Wars saga. His biggest inspiration was his relationship with his kids and his relationship with his own father. This made me realize that ideas for my art didn’t have to be ridiculously innovative or grand. I could find inspiration in the small things in life and draw ideas from things I’m interested in. After obsessively looking at the rest of the exhibits, I finally made my way to the shop. Upon arriving at the shop, I was in awe. This was no ordinary museum gift shop. It was an actual authentic, legitimate comic book and cartoon shop with huge selections of action figures, books, guides, posters, movies, and lots of other little goods, retro and new. Every shelf, bin, basket, and rack was packed with merchandise. After I finished gawking at how impressive and extensive the shop was, I dove in. I was glared at by the wary clerks who thought I was a thief as I spent an absurd amount of time shifting through the books and other merchandise, reading bits and pieces and picking things up and examining them from every angle. As I probed the entire store and everything in it, the darkening windows made me realize the sun was setting outside and the museum would be closing soon. I collected the things I felt I absolutely could not leave without and took them to the cashier. I wanted to stay there forever and soak up as much art inspiration as I could. I left with a goofy smile of satisfaction on my face and a strong, fiery motivation to go home and work on my own art. Going to the Cartoon Art Museum was one of my favorite experiences in San Francisco because I took so much away from it. Visiting CAM made me realize that I was becoming complacent with the quality of my art and made me rethink how I found inspiration for my work. I had been lacking motivation, inspiration, and especially some guidance for a very long time and going there and seeing what inspired me when I was younger actually re-ignited my passion for art and reminded me that I chose to pursue a career as an artist not only because it’s all I know, but also what I love to do. I wouldn’t be happy doing anything else.

The methods were including lesson, demonstration, training video, group discussion, game and technology based training. Lesson was always used in training course, it could present the information, direct instruction, theories and ideas to trainees. Through the lesson, they got a basic concept for those subjects. In the captioned training course, it was used lesson in introduce the products and coffee houses operation, those information were not change frequently, trainees could following the guideline later on. Training video, one of the advantages for using training video should be let trainees feel a little bit humor. Difference videos had difference aims, the video shown them Cafe Co introduction and experience sharing from line managers were let them knew more history and career opportunity in Cafe Co. recording to those videos, they would know the company how to growing up and the organization goals of the company. Demonstration would be used in he technique of coffee making, it could be illustrating trainees how to make a cup of coffee and coffee machine operation. If only through the lesson told them the issue, they were difficult to understand all of these, so that uses the demonstration, trainer could indicate them which were the better way to do these. Following the demonstration, it decided a game for them to practic e how to make it by themselves, then they would be to know what were the well making methods and sometimes they could find out the useful solutions by themselves, meantime they could raise out the problems and unclear procedure when they felt in. The last method in the training course was the technology based training, it -9- used in the Point-Of-Sell (POS) system in the training. First of all, this system should be a computerized system, and trainees only want to have a basic idea of this system. Because of most of stores in Cafe Co, this system would be operated by the senior baristas. Under the reason, trainees had more chance to learn in the future. Due to the new baristas with difference character, for that reason it would be used the difference kind of training method to make them easier to learn. Experiential learning was the method to help trainees built up relations between thinking and doing. It could be seen as a learning cycle in 4 styles, there were Activists, Reflectors, Theorists and Pragmatists, Honey and Mumford’s (1992) learning styles. Probably, the training methods would be defining in these styles. Activists was fit for the outgoing, optimistic and enthusiastic people, normally they were tend to be looking for new experiences and opportunities, they like to be a centre of attention, working with other people in team tasks or role playing, and they would be jump in the deep end with a difficult task. The philosophy of them was they would like to try all the new things and least one time. Role play and game should be suit for this kind’s people. Strengths of activists would be flexible and open-minded, trainees would feel happy and 10 easier to build up good relation, and they would enjoy and put into the training. Reflectors were thoughtful, analytical and good listeners, they were careful, thorough and methodical, and they could observe individuals or group at work. They were good at listening and assimilating information, reviewing what has happened and thinking about what they had learned. Training video and group discussion were most suitable for reflectors, trainees through these training method to find out and clarify where were the problems occurred, and they would think about how to improve when they in those situation. However, the weakness of them would be they likely to procrastinate and properly they could produce analyses and reports without tight deadlines. Theorists were logical, objective, systematic and analytical, they would be a perfectionist and they were approaching to ask the scrutiny questions. They were good in analyze and handle the rational objectivity carefully, but not any subjective or equivocal thing. They were difficult to accept the subjective judgment and horizontal thinking. Though the lesson could teach them a theory and gave them a clear instruction, they would produce step by step analysis in the subject. Pragmatists were the people care about in practical, realistic and technology. They dislike discuss in a long period and impatient to thinking repeatedly. They 11 would look for practical application, experiments in new ideas and new things, question and chance they would look as a new challenge. Using technology based training was a good for them. 6. Evaluation for the course The accurate evaluation report was very important for built up a systematic training cycle, it could summarize many suggestions from trainees, and trainers could through those reports to do some improvement for the next training program. Therefore, trainer should design a useful evaluation form for trainees fill in at the end of the training course (refer to appendix 1). Referenced from Kirkpatrick’s learning evaluation theory, Kirkpatrick (1956), it could define in 4 stages. Firstly, was Reaction. Trainer could care and feel all about the reaction from trainees, such as if the training process was very silent or quiet, that mean trainees feel boring or not interesting for the subject. Contrarily, trainees would raise out some questions or gave trainer some reaction when they interesting about the subject. Secondly, was Learning. Trainer could decide a quiz or test in the end of each training session, then trainer would know trainees learn how many knowledge in the captioned 12 training courses. Thirdly, was Behavioral. Following the training, trainer could communicate with line mangers, recommend line managers fill in an appraisal form for the trainees who attended in training, then trainer would evaluate the improvement for their performance and job behavior. Moreover, trainer could compare with another baristas did not join in the training, following this research, trainer could do an analysis for the captioned issue and know how effective for the training course. Finally, was Results. Trainer needed to take time to observe the organizational performance within the designated period. Then, trainer would be evaluating the outcome for the training. 7. Conclusions When Cafe Co starting to hold the training course for the new baristas, Kim should be keep on to monitor how effective all the times, because set up the training would use a lot of money and manpower. Therefore, if it was not effectiveness, Kim must review the training contents, methods and trainers as soon as possible. Such, the company would not waste money, manpower and materials when doing in this way. 13 8. List of References ? Banfield, P. , and Kay, R. (2008) Introduction to Human Resource Management. Pronoun Review #2 Whos vs. Whose

Pronoun Review #2 Whos vs. Whose Pronoun Review #2 Who’s vs. Whose Pronoun Review #2 Who’s vs. Whose By Maeve Maddox A common error with who’s and whose is to confuse one for the other: Incorrect: She loves an author who’s books have become hard to find. Correct : She loves an author whose books have become hard to find. Incorrect: That’s a regular whose who of Fataverse All-Stars if I do say so myself. Correct : That’s a regular who’s who of Fataverse All-Stars if I do say so myself. Who’s is a contraction of the pronoun who and the verb is: Who’s [who is] that man sitting by your wife? Who’s Who [Who is Who] is the title of several biographical publications. Note: The phrase â€Å"who’s who† is used to mean a collection of people notable in a certain pursuit, for example, â€Å"a who’s who of jazz† or â€Å"a who’s who of vulgarity masquerading as humor.† Whose is the possessive form of the pronoun who: Helen is the woman whose face launched a thousand ships. I know whose sunglasses these are. Alone or before a noun, whose is used to introduce a question: Whose is that car parked in our driveway? Whose little dog are you? Whose children were injured in the mudslide? Whose is used as a relative to introduce a clause: Troy Landry, a Cajun whose family goes back three generations, is on a mission to hunt down a monstrous alligator. The family Tineidae includes the clothes moths, whose larvae feed on woolens, furs, and other textiles. The usual meaning of whose is â€Å"of whom† or â€Å"belonging to whom.† Because who is a pronoun that applies only to living creatures, a few obstinate grammar sticklers object to the use of whose as the possessive of which as illustrated in these examples: I can’t recommend The Magnificent Ambersons, the great Orson Welles film whose ending the studio gutted. In 1986, a flawed reactor design at Chernobyl, Russia caused a leak whose effects are still being felt today. Because using which to refer to people is nonstandard, critics argue that using whose to refer to inanimate things like film endings and leaks should not be allowed. This is one of those vain arguments that try to force idiom to conform to logic. The previous examples could be recast to conform to the so-called rule: I can’t recommend The Magnificent Ambersons, the great Orson Welles film of which the studio gutted the ending. In 1986, a flawed reactor design at Chernobyl, Russia caused a leak of which the effects are still being felt today. But the changes hardly lead to stylistic improvement. I’ll let The Chicago Manual of Style have the last word on whose to mean â€Å"of which†: Some writers object to using whose as a replacement for of which, especially when the subject is not human, but the usage is centuries old and widely accepted as preventing unnecessary awkwardness. Compare â€Å"the company whose stock rose faster† with â€Å"the company the stock of which rose faster.† Either form is acceptable, but the possessive whose lends greater smoothness. –CMOS, 5.61 Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? Target Corporation Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Target Corporation - Assignment Example The organizational hierarchy as described above indicates that Target has a tall management structure. Companies with tall hierarchies tend to take more time in making decisions. Information flow, be it top-bottom or bottom-top tends to get distorted leading to misinterpretation of the messages sent. Due to this, the organization runs the risk of taking incorrect decisions as they may be based on incorrect information. Tall hierarchies tend to increase management costs as well. Managers are usually paid more than subordinates; therefore each additional level in the hierarchy would contribute to escalating costs. Last, but not the least, employees have the less managerial authority and responsibility which acts as a stumbling block in motivating them. Given the nature and quantum of Target’s business, the company would require a lot of staff. The operational work at the 1750 stores spread across the 49 states is essentially being done by the 3, 55, 000 team members. That translates to a little more than 200 employees per store which is far lower than what the biggest retailer in the world, Wal-Mart has. A clear-cut hierarchy and limited span of control ensure that supervision is effective and the work done is of the highest quality. It is not without reason that the company has won numerous awards. Among others, Target has bagged the 10th spot in the list of â€Å"Top 100 Employers for the Class of 2011† compiled by the Diversity Employers Magazine.

Healthcare Policy Making Stages

Healthcare Policy Making Stages Rebecah M. Deguit TASK 1: It is important to understand the policy development process so that as an advocate you can plan the type of input you need in order to have an impact on the final policy. There are five key stages in the health policy-making process. For each of the stages listed, explain what is included in the step and discuss the processes that are undertaken in the stage. THE POLICY-MAKING PROCESS INTRODUCTION: A policy is a set of rules governing a community to achieve a desired outcome. It directs actions and decisions towards certain goals to have the best results. A policy is important in order for individuals to live in harmony within the community. As nurses, it is our duty to be advocates not only for our patients, but also to the public in general. We must know and be familiarized that there are existing regulations or policies that may act as an obstruction or opposing our views. To be successful advocates, we should understand these factors so that we may be able to apply or use them properly. BODY: Being advocates, it is essential to have a clear understanding of how the policies are being developed. This is done in order for us to participate in the process. A policy undergoes different processes before it is carried out by the government. Each phase is equally significant as the next. These key stages include: Problem identification and agenda setting. This is the first step in making a policy. It involves recognizing existing problems, carefully examining those problems and its causes, and doing extensive research and brainstorming of different ideas to find the possible interventions or solutions. Once it has being identified, a list of prioritized plans will be done. This generally happens when a group of people require government action to an issue(s), or when the public do not agree on the processes in addressing certain problems. Policy formation. There are several potential ways to solve a certain problem so brainstorming is required in formulating a policy. In this process, policy makers come up with new methods of solving the identified problems. People from the legislature and bureaucracy are involved in the process. Among these processes are: Organize the policy process. In this process, policy makers decide how to manage the development process that will classify the policy’s structure, its major goals, and its priority components. In here, planning of people or groups involved in the process is also recognized. Identify the main problems. This step in policy-making requires skilled people from different departments to take part in the analysis and give suggestions on what actions to make in order for the problems to be addressed appropriately. After they have come up with a proposal, discussion is then made for them to have a unanimous recommendation to the government. Make a detailed situation analysis. In this process, there is a need to look at the identified problems more closely and its causes to pinpoint possible interventions, planning what are the things that need to be done first, selection of most appropriate strategies to the desired result is made, and sets a baseline for monitoring and evaluation. Set goals and objectives for a national health policy. After the existing problems have been identified, setting of attainable as well as realistic goals and objectives are done and planning of suitable approaches towards addressing the main problems is made. An example of this may be the need for accessible essential drugs for everyone in the community. Based on the given example, one possible objective would be to make the drugs affordable and increase the supply of medicines especially in remote areas. Draft the text of the policy. Once systematic analyses of the main objectives, goals and methods have been made, a draft of the text is arranged. It must contain the overall aim of the policy. Mostly, necessary drugs are guaranteed accessible, safe, and of high quality to the residents. The specific goals should also be discussed. With regards to healthcare, a draft outline of the plan of the national drug policy must be arranged. It must establish the broader purpose of the policy. In general, this is to make sure of the availability, dependability, efficiency, and of high quality of vital drugs for the individuals in the community. Circulate and revise the draft policy. After the text of the policies have been drafted, they must be disseminated to all the people concerned, primarily within the ministry of health, then in other departments, and lastly to significant organizations and institutions outside of the government in order for them to give their insights or critics. After an extensive discussion of the draft policies is done, they are then edited and finalized based on the suggestions or critics of the different organizations. Adoption. Following a variety of presented plans, one policy is acknowledged by the decision-makers. The adoption of a policy takes place when the Congress passes legislation. Policy adoption requires a lot of time in that a series of processes are made in order to come up with a complex policy. Policy implementation. In this stage, the policy is translated into action. It entails circulation of the facts about the adopted policy and implementing it. Checking of financial resources is important to correspond with the plans and interventions that will be implemented. This step also requires proper communication and cooperation to be successful in applying the policy. Policy monitoring and evaluation. This is the last step of policy-making wherein the policy is being examined and analyzed if it is really addressing the problem being identified and if the goals and objectives were met. In here, people scrutinize the process and the outcomes of the policy. This stage is an ongoing process and may be a basis for modification in the agenda, policy formation, or its implementation. CONCLUSION: Policy-making is then a cyclical and continuous process, with many people being involved in the course of action. The process of creating and adopting laws takes lots of time, and of course, budget. Everyone is influenced by policies in the health care system everyday thus it is important to review them daily so that public’s safety and well-being is assured. As nurses work hand in hand with the clients and their families, primarily they are the ones to assess if the health care system is effective or not in dealing with the needs of the clients. Healthy foods vs. not healthy foods Essay

Eating is something that we all have to do to stay alive and we do it at least three times a day. We live in a world where there are so many choices and no one but ourselves are responsible for the foods we eat. In this essay I will compare and contrast the differences between eating healthy foods instead of not so healthy foods. First I’m going to discuss the healthy foods. The two areas of healthy food I’m going to talk about are the benefits and taste. The Benefits of eating healthy foods are that our bodies stay healthy, keeps you full and satisfied longer during the day, giving you more energy through out the day and in the long run keeping us out of the doctor’s office. If you’re trying to lose weight consuming healthy foods is a start to lose weight. The taste of healthy foods is fresher and if you prepare it well the taste will satifa you but it can sometimes lack good taste if you don’t know how to prepare it. Second I’m going to discuss the benefits and taste of the not healthy foods. There is no benefit of eating food that isn’t healthy for you. When we consume foods that have no benefits we end up with all types of health problems like diabetes, heart conditions and being overweight Which all can lead to high medical bills. The taste of these kinds of food might tastes better at the moment due to all the ingredients that are in them and might cost cheaper so it becomes easier for us to consume. In the long run we are responsible for what we eat and the choices of food we buy but we should all consider the benefits it will make or not make.
